2011 - Agile Estimation and Planning

Pierre Neis and Oswald De Riemaecker has co-presented this Event. We started with a Marschmallow Challenge, we then reviewed the lessons learned from it:

  1. The power of prototyping, fast refinement give better results rather than upfront planning.
  2. The importance of various competencies, having a Team with various competency achieve better results.
  3. Bonus doesn't improve results
        (See Powerpoint in attachment)

We have then showed the difference between Traditional and Agile Estimation & Planning, comparing:

  1. Business Value vs Activity Planning
  2. Emergent Product Backlog vs Big Design upfront
  3. Story Points Estimation vs Hours Duration
  4. Iterative Development Sprints
  5. Definition of Done, Working Software at the end of each Sprint
  6. Sprint Review and Sprint Retrospective
  7. Release Often
